Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; it explicitly names ajñāna (ignorance) as Menā’s condition while she seeks Śiva-darśana—classic paśu bound by pāśa moving toward release.
Significance: Frames darśana as a remedy for ajñāna; encourages seekers to approach sacred spaces/teachers even while imperfect, trusting transformation through encounter.
Role: teaching
It shows the soul’s first reorientation: even while bound by ajñāna (a key form of pāśa/bondage), the impulse to seek Śiva’s darśana arises, indicating grace-driven movement toward liberation.
The verse emphasizes darśana—approaching Śiva in a knowable, worshipful way (saguṇa access). In Purāṇic practice this commonly culminates in devotion to Śiva’s manifest presence, especially the Liṅga, as the accessible focus for reverence and transformation.
Adopt “darśana-bhāva”: go to Śiva with sincere intent—recite the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), keep vibhūti/Tripuṇḍra and rudrākṣa as reminders of Śiva, and meditate on seeing Śiva inwardly as the remover of ajñāna.
