Genealogy of King Anaraṇya and Pippalāda’s arousal of desire
muniryayāce kanyāṃ sa tāṃ dehīti nṛpeśvara | anyathā bhasmasātsarvaṃ kariṣyāmi kṣaṇena ca
Suta Goswami (narrating the Parvati Khanda episode to the sages)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Kālabhairava
Shakti Form: Kālī
Role: destructive
It warns that ascetic power (tapas) without humility becomes bondage: anger and coercion burn merit, while true Shaiva dharma values restraint, compassion, and alignment with Shiva’s will.
The verse contrasts destructive ego-driven power with Saguna Shiva’s role as the righteous Lord who grants grace; Linga-worship trains the devotee in surrender (śaraṇāgati) rather than domination through fear.
Practice japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with bhasma/Tripuṇḍra as a reminder to burn anger and ego internally, not to threaten others with ‘turning to ashes.’
