Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Highlights saṅkhyā-niyama (numerical discipline) in worship—completion of a lakṣa as a vrata-like milestone believed to mature merit and make the sādhana ‘sarva-kāma-phala-pradā’.
It teaches that steady, daily devotion to Śiva—carried to completion (a lakh-count discipline)—ripens into siddhi: the fulfillment of aims, and ultimately the purification that supports liberation in the Shaiva path.
“Śaṅkara-pūjanam” here implies regular saguna worship—classically through Śiva-liṅga pūjā with offerings and mantra—by which the devotee’s intention is sanctified and desires are granted according to dharma and Śiva’s grace.
A daily, counted practice culminating in one lakh—commonly one lakh japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) alongside Śiva pūjā (water/abhisheka, bilva leaves, bhasma/tripuṇḍra, and rudrākṣa as supportive observances).
