Suta Goswami (narrating the Kotirudra Samhita account of the Jyotirlingas to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Vaidyanātha
Jyotirlinga: Vaidyanātha
Sthala Purana: At the devotee’s prayer, the Bull-bannered Lord becomes ‘saṃsthita’ (established) at that place and becomes famous as Vaidyanātheśvara across the three worlds—marking the kṣetra’s consecration and the Jyotirliṅga’s public identity.
Significance: Establishment (saṃsthiti) implies enduring accessibility: pilgrims can approach the fixed liṅga for darśana, pūjā, and healing-grace.
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that sincere prayer (bhakti) invites Shiva’s compassionate presence, and that His grace becomes “established” as a sacred locus (Jyotirlinga) benefiting all the three worlds.
By stating that Shiva became established and renowned by a specific name, the verse supports Saguna worship—Shiva allowing Himself to be approached through the Linga-form and a particular Jyotirlinga identity (Vaidyanātheśvara) for devotees’ upliftment.
The practical takeaway is prayerful Linga-upasana: offer water and bilva leaves, repeat the Panchakshara mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and contemplate Shiva as the compassionate Lord who heals and liberates (Vaidyanātha).
