गौतमविघ्नप्रकरणम्
Episode of Obstacles to Gautama; Gaṇeśa’s Appearing Through Misguided Worship
सूत उवाच । स एवं प्रार्थितस्तैस्तु विहस्य वचनं पुनः । प्रोवाचेभमुखः प्रीत्या बोधयंस्तान्सतां गतिः
sūta uvāca | sa evaṃ prārthitastaistu vihasya vacanaṃ punaḥ | provācebhamukhaḥ prītyā bodhayaṃstānsatāṃ gatiḥ
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It highlights the guru-like compassion of the narrator/teacher: when sincere seekers request guidance, the wise respond with gentleness and clarity, leading them onto the sat-path (the way of the righteous) that culminates in Shiva-oriented liberation.
In the Kotirudra context, instruction given ‘with affection’ frames pilgrimage and Linga-worship as guided practice: devotees approach with prayer, and the tradition responds with teachings that make Saguna Shiva devotion a doorway to realizing the highest refuge in Pati (Shiva).
The verse implies śravaṇa (devotional listening) and guru-upadeśa: approach with humility, then practice what is taught—typically japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), along with disciplined pūjā and remembrance during Jyotirlinga worship.
