Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Jyotirlinga: Somanātha
Sthala Purana: The established Lord becomes famed as Someshvara across the three worlds; worship (pūjanāt) destroys kṣaya, kuṣṭha, and other diseases—framing the Jyotirliṅga as a locus of healing grace.
Significance: Worship at Someshvara is praised as removing bodily afflictions and, by implication, the deeper ‘disease’ of bondage; pilgrims seek ārogya and pāpa-kṣaya.
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
The verse proclaims Someshvara as a universally revered manifestation of Shiva whose worship removes afflictions; in Shaiva Siddhanta, such “disease-destruction” also points to the cleansing of impurities (mala) through devotion and grace.
Someshvara is approached as Saguna Shiva through the Jyotirlinga form; the text emphasizes that concrete Linga worship (pūjā) becomes a channel for Shiva’s anugraha (grace), yielding both worldly relief and inner purification.
Perform Someshvara Linga pūjā with mantra-japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and traditional offerings; the takeaway is steady, faith-filled worship as the stated means for removing suffering.
