Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Jyotirlinga: Vaidyanātha
Sthala Purana: The Lord’s abiding presence is identified ‘as Vaidyanātha’—the Divine Physician—motivated by compassion for the welfare of all worlds. This verse functions as a theological rationale (karuṇā) for the deity’s kṣetra-residence.
Significance: Vaidyanātha-darśana is sought for healing, relief from afflictions, and pāpa-kṣaya; the deeper Purāṇic claim is loka-hita—Śiva’s sustaining presence for universal welfare.
Mantra: oṃ tryambakaṃ yajāmahe sugandhiṃ puṣṭivardhanam | urvārukamiva bandhanān mṛtyor mukṣīya māmṛtāt ||

Offering: dhupa
This verse presents Shiva’s Jyotirlinga-presence as an act of universal grace: as Vaidyanātha, the compassionate Lord remains accessible in a sacred form to heal suffering and uplift beings toward liberation.
By naming Him “Vaidyanātha,” the text emphasizes Saguna Shiva—Shiva mercifully taking a worshipable, approachable manifestation as the Jyotirlinga so devotees can receive tangible blessings and inner purification.
A practical takeaway is devotional Jyotirlinga-upāsanā: offer bilva leaves and water, apply Tripuṇḍra (bhasma), and repeat the Panchākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” praying for healing and the welfare of all beings.
