The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
तस्मिन् प्लवगशार्दूलेविसंज्ञेपतितेभुवि ।तच्छूलंसमुपादायसुग्रीवमभिदुद्रुवे ।।।।
tasmin plavagaśārdūle visaṃjñe patite bhuvi | tacchūlaṃ samupādāya sugrīvam abhidudruve ||
جب وہ بندروں کا شیر زمین پر بے ہوش گرا پڑا تھا، تو کُمبھکرن نے اپنا نیزہ اٹھایا اور سُگریو پر سیدھا جھپٹ پڑا۔
When the tiger among the monkeys fell unconscious on ground, Kumbhakarna rushed towards Sugriva taking out the pike.
It points to the dharma of protecting leadership and the community: when a key defender falls, the threat shifts to the leader, testing collective responsibility.
Aṅgada is down; Kumbhakarṇa capitalizes on the moment and charges at Sugrīva with a spear.
Sugrīva’s role as leader is foregrounded—his courage and readiness to face direct danger becomes central in the next verses.
