The Awakening of Kumbhakarna
तेतुतंविकृतंसुप्तंविकीर्णमिवपर्वतम् ।।।।कुम्भकर्णंमहानिद्रंसहिताःप्रत्यबोधयन् ।
te tu taṁ vikṛtaṁ suptaṁ vikīrṇam iva parvatam | kumbhakarṇaṁ mahānidraṁ sahitāḥ pratyabodhayan ||
پھر وہ سب اکٹھے ہو کر کُمبھکرن کو جگانے لگے—جو اپنی ہیبت ناک صورت میں گہری نیند سو رہا تھا، گویا بکھرا ہوا پہاڑ پڑا ہو۔
The tigers among Rakshasas entered the residence paved with gold and precious stones, a delightful one and saw sleeping Kumbhakarna of great prowess.
Tamas (inertia) obstructs right action; dharma requires wakefulness—inner and outer—to respond to duty with clarity.
The Rākṣasas collectively begin the process of waking Kumbhakarṇa from an extraordinarily deep sleep.
Alertness and readiness for duty are implied as virtues by their absence in Kumbhakarṇa’s state of overpowering sleep.
