War Omens and the Encirclement of Lanka’s Gates
इत्येवंपरुषंवाक्यंब्रुवाणेहरिपुङ्गवे ।अमर्षवशमापन्नोनिशाचरगणेश्वरः ।।6.41.83।।
ity evaṃ paruṣaṃ vākyaṃ bruvāṇe haripuṅgave |
amarṣavaśam āpanno niśācaragaṇeśvaraḥ ||6.41.83||
جب وانروں کے سردار نے ایسے سخت الفاظ کہے، تو رات کو گھومنے والوں کا مالک (راون) بے قابو غصے میں آ گیا۔
The leader of the monkeys having spoken in that manner, Ravana the ruler of night rangers was overtaken by fury.
Loss of self-control (krodha) clouds judgment and drives adharma. Dharma is sustained by restraint, especially for rulers.
After Aṅgada’s sharp warning, Rāvaṇa’s pride is struck and he becomes furious.
By contrast, the verse highlights the need for rulerly composure; Rāvaṇa’s lack of it is shown as a moral weakness.
