Sītā’s Lament over the Illusory Head and Bow
एवमुक्त्वातुवैदेहीवेपमानातपस्विनी ।जगामजगतींबालाछिन्नातुकदळीयथा ।।6.32.6।।
evam uktvā tu vaidehī vepamānā tapasvinī | jagāma jagatīṃ bālā chinnā tu kadalī yathā ||6.32.6||
یوں کہہ کر ویدیہی، کانپتی ہوئی تپسویہ، وہ کمسن دکھیاری زمین پر یوں گر پڑی جیسے کٹا ہوا کیلا کا پودا۔
That miserable young, Vaidehi, having said so, fell on the ground trembling like a cut off banana plant.
The verse evokes karuṇā (compassion) as a dharmic response to undeserved suffering; it underscores how adharmic decisions inflict profound harm upon the innocent.
After lamenting, Sītā (Vaidehī) trembles and faints/falls to the ground, her grief rendered through a vivid simile.
Endurance amid suffering: Sītā’s pain is shown without malice, highlighting her sensitivity and the moral weight of injustice.
