The Pushpaka Vimāna Offered and the Return Prepared
मांनिवर्तयितुंयोऽसौचित्रकूटमुपागतः ।शिरसायाचतोयस्यवचनं न कृतंमया ।।।।कौसल्यां च सुमित्रां च कैकेयीं च यशस्विनीम् ।गुहं च सुहृदंचैवपौरान्जनपदैस्सह ।।।।
māṃ nivartayituṃ yo 'sau citrakūṭam upāgataḥ |
śirasā yācato yasya vacanaṃ na kṛtaṃ mayā ||
kausalyāṃ ca sumitrāṃ ca kaikeyīṃ ca yaśasvinīm |
guhaṃ ca suhṛdaṃ caiva paurān janapadais saha ||
جو مجھے لوٹانے کے لیے چترکوٹ آیا تھا—جس نے سر جھکا کر التجا کی—میں نے اس کی بات نہ مانی۔ اسی طرح میں نے کوسلیا، سُمِترا، نامور کیکئی، اپنے سُہرد گُہ، اور نگر و دیہات کے سب لوگوں کی بات بھی قبول نہ کی۔
"He came to Chitrakuta and on reaching bent down obediently, begged me by his words to return which I did not do. Kausalya, Sumithra and Kaikeyi and Guha also requested and the request of the citizens has been turned down.
Satya and steadfastness: Rāma recalls refusing even the most heartfelt pleas, because dharma required him to uphold the exile-vow and his father’s word.
Rāma explains to Vibhīṣaṇa the intensity of his wish to see Bharata, recalling Bharata’s earlier attempt at Citrakūṭa to bring him back.
