Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
ānupūrvyeṇa vṛttaṃ ca lāṅgūlaṃ lomabhiś citam | utpatiṣyan vicikṣepa pakṣirāja ivoragam ||
Like the king of birds Garuda would shake a serpent, he shook his tail covered with hair in order to take off.
Dharma is disciplined strength: even immense power is organized and directed (ānupūrvyeṇa) toward a righteous goal.
In the final moments before jumping, Hanumān adjusts and swings his tail as part of his physical preparation.
Saṃyama (control): the simile of Garuḍa suggests mastery and effectiveness rather than chaos.
