Rama and Lakshmana at Sabari’s Hermitage
इत्युक्ता जटिला वृद्धा चीरकृष्णाजिनाम्बरा।तस्मिन्मुहूर्ते शबरी देहं जीर्णं जिहासती।।।।अनुज्ञाता तु रामेण हुत्वात्मानं हुताशने।ज्वलत्पावकसङ्काशा स्वर्गमेव जगाम सा।।।।
ity uktā jaṭilā vṛddhā cīrakṛṣṇājināmbarā | tasmin muhūrte śabarī dehaṃ jīrṇaṃ jihāsatī ||
یوں مخاطب ہونے پر، شَبَری—جٹاؤں والی بوڑھی، جو چھال کے کپڑے اور سیاہ ہرن کی کھال پہنے تھی—اسی لمحے اپنے بوسیدہ جسم کو چھوڑ دینے کی خواہش کرنے لگی۔
On seeing them both, Sabari, an accomplished ascetic, got up with folded hands andtouched the feet of the sagacious Rama and Lakshmana.
Dharma is shown as readiness for righteous renunciation: when life’s purpose (devotion and service) is fulfilled, one may relinquish attachment to the body with purity and resolve.
After being addressed by Rāma, Śabarī prepares to give up her old body at that very moment.
Śabarī’s detachment and spiritual readiness—her life of discipline culminates in a serene willingness to depart.
