The Illusory Deer Episode: Ravana and Maricha at Rama’s Hermitage

“فوراً اس رتنوں سے آراستہ رتھ پر سوار ہو جاؤ؛ یہ ایسے گدھوں سے جتا ہوا ہے جن کے چہرے بھیانک، پِشَچ جیسے ہیں۔ میرے ساتھ جلدی چلو۔”
Ascend quickly with me this chariot encrusted with gems and yoked with donkeys with devils' faces৷৷
The verse highlights the outward signs of adharma: an ominous vehicle and grotesque imagery accompany a wrongful intent. In Ramayana ethics, unrighteous aims often manifest through disturbing symbols and hurried coercion.
Rāvaṇa urges Mārīca to quickly mount the chariot as they proceed to execute the plan that will isolate Sītā and enable her abduction.
By contrast (implicitly), dhārmic conduct is marked by transparency and restraint; Rāvaṇa’s haste and coercive tone underscore his lack of these virtues.
