Dāna: Types, Recipients, Timing, and Fruits
तीक्ष्णतापं च तरति छत्रोपानत्प्रदो नरः । यद्यदिष्टतमं लोके यच्चास्यापेक्षितं गृहे
tīkṣṇatāpaṃ ca tarati chatropānatprado naraḥ | yadyadiṣṭatamaṃ loke yaccāsyāpekṣitaṃ gṛhe
جو شخص چھتری اور جوتے کا دان کرتا ہے وہ تیز جلتی گرمی سے پار ہو جاتا ہے؛ اور دنیا میں جو اسے سب سے زیادہ مطلوب ہو اور گھر میں جس کی وہ آرزو کرے، وہ اسے حاصل ہوتا ہے۔
Pulastya (to Bhīṣma)
Concept: Dāna that removes immediate distress (umbrella, footwear) yields both worldly fulfillment and protective merit.
Application: Keep a habit of season-appropriate giving—umbrellas in heat/rain, footwear, water, shade—especially to travelers, workers, and pilgrims; frame it as service to Nārāyaṇa dwelling in all.
