Unspecified (context-dependent narrator within Svarga-khaṇḍa)

Concept: Even within a supremely holy city, liberation is linked to śaraṇāgati—taking refuge in a specific form/presence of the Lord; sanctity becomes personal through surrender.

Application: Let inspiration from holy places and holy people culminate in a clear inner act: choose refuge (śaraṇa) in the Divine and renew it daily through simple remembrance.

FAQs

It praises residence in Vārāṇasī (Kāśī) and teaches that liberation is attained through taking refuge (śaraṇa) in Kṛttivāsa—Śiva.

Siddhas are perfected celestial beings associated with yogic accomplishment; the verse says they sing hymns celebrating the sanctity of Kāśī and its devout residents.

Kṛttivāsa is an epithet of Śiva (often understood as “the one clothed in a hide”), indicating that surrender to Śiva is presented as a direct means to liberation here.
