FAQs

“Somaputra” means “son of Soma (the Moon).” In graha-stuti contexts it is a respectful epithet for a planetary/astral deity associated with Soma’s lineage, praised here as learned and beneficent.

It presents the invoked deity as fully grounded in sacred knowledge and its disciplines, implying authority, order (ṛta/dharma), and the ability to bestow auspiciousness through wise, lawful influence.

The verse models humility and reverence: one approaches divine powers with respectful salutations and a request for enduring grace, emphasizing steady devotion rather than one-time petition.
