FAQs

It records a genealogical succession: Satyavrata (also known as Satyaratha) fathered Hariścandra, and Hariścandra fathered Rohita.

It presents an epithet-based naming: because of his “vow to truth” (satyavrata), he is remembered by the honorific name “Satyaratha,” highlighting a reputation grounded in truth.

The verse foregrounds satya (truth) as a defining virtue—so central that it becomes the basis for a king’s remembered name—reinforcing truthfulness as a core dharmic ideal.
