FAQs

It prescribes a sequence: first perform worship (pūjā) with offerings like fruits and flowers accompanied by mantras, and then perform anna-dāna (the gifting of food).

It emphasizes that anna-dāna should be done according to vidhis (ritual/ethical injunctions), i.e., in an appropriate quantity aligned with the rite, capacity, and scriptural guidance.

The verse links devotion with generosity: reverence toward the Divine is completed by tangible compassion and support for others through the giving of food.
