Vyāsa

Concept: Begin undertakings with Gaṇeśa worship to remove obstacles; proper sequencing (krama) safeguards the rite’s success.

Application: Before any sādhana—japa, vrata, pilgrimage, study—perform a brief invocation for obstacle-removal (Gaṇeśa stotra/namaskāra), then proceed with one-pointed devotion to one’s iṣṭa (often Vishnu).

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

The verse states that Gaṇeśa should be worshipped at the outset specifically “for the purpose of obstacle-removal” (avighnārtham), establishing him as the traditional initiator of rites and undertakings.

Vināyakatvam indicates attaining the state or role of “Vināyaka,” i.e., a leading remover of obstacles—an epithet and function exemplified by Gaṇeśa.

It recommends beginning important actions with reverence and preparedness—symbolized by worship—so that impediments are addressed before proceeding further.
