The sage (muni)

Concept: Disguise cannot conceal intention; the vigilant mind detects disturbance created by deceit.

Application: When something feels ethically ‘off,’ pause and inquire; cultivate discernment rather than naïveté.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka

Type: forest

FAQs

Pṛṣadaṃśa is walking when the path seems to move or tremble; a sage notices and challenges the hidden presence, asking who is taking on a cat’s form.

It signals disguise or concealment—someone (or something) is present but not in their true form, prompting the sage’s discerning question.

The verse highlights vigilance and discernment: appearances can be deceptive, and a wise person investigates the truth behind a presented form.
