The Destruction of Dakṣa’s Sacrifice

nātra manyustvayā kāryaḥ sarvaḥ svaṃ bhāgamarhati | anyajanmani yairyādṛkkṛtaṃ karma śubhāśubham

FAQs

It teaches karmic justice: outcomes are apportioned according to one’s own past actions, so anger is inappropriate; steadiness and ethical reflection are advised.

It emphasizes responsibility: present circumstances are linked to prior deeds (śubha/aśubha), implying that current actions also shape future results.

It advises restraint from anger and encourages equanimity—understanding that each person experiences consequences tied to their own karmic history.
