FAQs

It presents the completion of a “task of the gods” as something achieved through Rāma’s agency, and it marks that achievement with divine gratitude expressed as the offer of a boon.

By addressing Rāma as “mahāvrata” (great-vowed), the verse frames his success as rooted in disciplined commitment to righteous duty, not merely power.

The verse models a moral economy of gratitude: when a difficult duty benefiting many is fulfilled, it deserves acknowledgment and a fitting reward—ideally aligned with the recipient’s virtuous desires.
