FAQs

Pulastya is speaking, introducing his forthcoming narration of Mārkaṇḍeya’s origin, beginning with the renowned sage Mṛkaṇḍu of an ancient age.

It signals a structured narration: the speaker explicitly announces the topic (Mārkaṇḍeya’s birth) and anchors it in deep time (purā-kalpa), a common Purāṇic technique to frame sacred history.

By foregrounding Mṛkaṇḍu’s renown, the text emphasizes the authority of realized sages and the importance of lineage and character as foundations for understanding later spiritual events.
