Concept: Purāṇa-śravaṇa combined with śraddhā-yukta dāna (especially bhū-dāna with crops) generates great puṇya and supports dharma in society.

Application: Make sacred listening a habit (daily/weekly), and pair it with tangible giving—food, education support, or livelihood assistance—done respectfully and transparently.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

It recommends two dharmic acts: listening to the Purāṇas (purāṇa-śravaṇa) and giving land as a gift, specifically land that is productive (with crops), performed with faith (śraddhā).

It highlights a gift that sustains life and livelihood—productive land—implying a higher, more beneficial form of charity that supports ongoing nourishment rather than a one-time offering.

The verse links inner devotion (faithful listening) with outward responsibility (generous giving), teaching that sincere receptivity to sacred teachings should be expressed through tangible, welfare-oriented charity.
