Yamavākya
The Words of Yama
kathaṃ tasyā jagannātha pakṣo yāti paraṃ padam | jāmātuḥ puṇyamāhātmyattena me śiraso rujā || 19 ||
Narada (questioning within the Narada–Sanatkumara dialogue frame)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
The verse links liberation (parama pada) with the force of accumulated merit (puṇya-māhātmya), showing how karmic potency can shape extraordinary outcomes in a tirtha/mahatmya narrative.
By addressing Jagannātha (Vishnu) directly, the verse frames the question within a devotional relationship, implying that understanding merit and liberation is sought through surrender and inquiry before the Lord.
No direct Vedanga (like Vyakarana, Jyotisha, or Kalpa) instruction appears; the practical takeaway is ethical—puṇya (merit through dharmic acts/vrata/tirtha-seva) is presented as spiritually efficacious in mahatmya contexts.
