FAQs

This verse functions as an index: it highlights that the chapter includes a sacred inquiry into Gaṇeśa’s origin and a puṇya-producing mahāvrata, presenting devotion and disciplined observance as gateways to auspiciousness and obstacle-removal.

By foregrounding Gaṇeśa/Vighneśa—invoked at the start of undertakings—and linking his narrative with a vowed observance, the verse points to bhakti expressed through kathā-śravaṇa (hearing sacred narrative) and vrata (devotional discipline).

The practical emphasis is on vrata-vidhi (ritual observance): undertaking a mahāvrata as a structured dharmic practice aimed at accruing puṇya and removing impediments (vighna), rather than on technical Vedāṅga sciences like vyākaraṇa or jyotiṣa.
