Adhyaya 53 — Rudrasarga and the Measure of the Manvantaras: Svayambhuva Manu, Priyavrata’s Line, and the Seven Dvipas
कुरुस्तु सप्तमस्तेषां भद्राश्वश्चाष्टमः स्मृतः ।
नवमः केतुमालश्च तन्नाम्ना वर्षसंस्थितिः ॥
kurus tu saptamas teṣāṃ bhadrāśvaś cāṣṭamaḥ smṛtaḥ /
navamaḥ ketumālaś ca tan-nāmnā varṣasaṃsthitiḥ
ان میں کُرو ساتواں تھا اور بھدرآشْو آٹھواں یاد کیا جاتا ہے۔ نواں کیتُمال تھا، اور اسی نام سے وہ وَرش (خطہ) قائم و معروف ہوا۔
Naming regions after progenitors reinforces a dharmic model of belonging: territory is not anonymous matter but a lived inheritance tied to duty and reputation.
‘Vaṃśa/vaṃśānucarita’ (lineages) integrated with ‘Sthāna’ (regional order).
The ‘varṣa established by name’ points to nāma-rūpa: name and form co-arise, implying that cosmic order is stabilized through intelligible designation.
