न तिष्ठन्ति गृहं तच्च वर्ज्यं यक्ष ! त्वया सदा ॥
yatrāsanasthās tiṣṭhatsu guru-vṛddha-dvijātiṣu | na tiṣṭhanti gṛhaṃ tac ca varjyaṃ yakṣa! tvayā sadā ||

Disrespect to gurus, elders, and worthy guests is treated as adharma that degrades a household’s moral field; such a place is congenial to harmful forces and thus singled out as 'avoidable' for the Yakṣa.
Dharma-anuśāsana (ethical instruction) rather than cosmological or genealogical material.
Rising to honor the worthy symbolizes the ego’s 'standing down'; failure to do so indicates tamas/pramāda, opening the household to disorder.
