Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds satya (truthfulness) and measured speech: Draupadī asserts her identity plainly while adopting humility appropriate to her concealed situation, showing how dharma can involve truthful restraint and self-control under danger.

During the Pāṇḍavas’ incognito stay in Virāṭa’s kingdom, Draupadī, questioned about her nature and background, denies being any supernatural being and presents herself as a mere sairandhrī (female attendant), maintaining the disguise necessary for safety.
