Ballava (Bhīma) Seeks Employment as Royal Cook in Virāṭa’s Court
मन्त्रिद्विजान् सूतमुखान् विशस्तथा ये चापि केचित् परित: समासते । पप्रच्छ को<यं प्रथमं समेयिवान् नृपोपमो<यं समवेक्षते सभाम्,मन्त्री, ब्राह्मण, सूत-मागध आदि, वैश्यगण तथा अन्य जो कोई भी सभासद् उनके दायें-बायें सब ओर बैठे थे, उन सबसे राजाने पूछा--“ये कौन हैं? जो पहले-पहल यहाँ पधारे हैं? ये तो किसी राजाकी भाँति मेरी सभाको निहार रहे हैं!
mantridvijān sūtamukhān viśas tathā ye cāpi kecit paritaḥ samāsate | papraccha ko 'yaṃ prathamaṃ sameyivān nṛpopamo 'yaṃ samavekṣate sabhām ||
وَیشَمپایَن نے کہا—بادشاہ نے اپنے گرد بیٹھے وزیروں، برہمنوں، سوت-ماغد وغیرہ مدّاحوں و منادیوں، ویشیوں اور دوسرے اہلِ دربار سے پوچھا—“یہ کون ہے جو سب سے پہلے یہاں آیا ہے؟ یہ تو کسی راجا کی طرح میری سبھا کو یوں دیکھ رہا ہے گویا یہ اسی کی ہو!”
