Arjuna–Karna Engagement in the Cattle-Raid Aftermath
athavā kuñjaraṁ mattam eka eva caran vane | anaḍūkuśaṁ samāruhya nagaraṁ gantum icchasi ||
Power or bold action must be governed by restraint and proper means; acting without control (like riding a maddened elephant without a goad) endangers both the agent and the community.
Kr̥pa challenges someone’s intention with a sharp metaphor, implying that the proposed course is rash—like taking an uncontrollable force from the wild into a populated city without any instrument of control.
