Draupadī–Bhīmasena Dialogue on Suffering, Kāla, and Daiva

The verse highlights the limits of confidently judging another’s inner motives—especially in matters of affection and emotion—while also noting how attachment shapes speech and behavior. It cautions against simplistic certainty about what lies in the heart.
In the Virāṭa court context, Vaiśampāyana comments on Sairandhrī (Draupadī in disguise), observing that women’s intentions can be hard to read, yet the pairing under discussion appears suitable; Sairandhrī, attached to her beloved, speaks repeatedly in a plaintive tone.
