भद्रवटगमनम् — स्कन्देन महिषदानवनिग्रहः

दशवर्षसहस््राणि तपस्तप्त्वा महातपा: । जनयत्‌ पावकं घोरं पितृणां स प्रजा: सृजन्‌

daśavarṣasahasrāṇi tapastaptvā mahātapāḥ | janayat pāvakaṃ ghoraṃ pitṝṇāṃ sa prajāḥ sṛjan |

مارکنڈیہ نے کہا—اس مہاتپسی پانچجنّیہ نے دس ہزار برس تک سخت تپسیا کی۔ اپنے پِتروں کی نسل جاری رکھنے کی نیت سے اس نے ایک ہیبت ناک مقدس آگ روشن کی، اور پھر اولاد پیدا کرنے میں لگ گیا۔
