Chapter 49: Sañjaya’s Enumeration of the Pāṇḍava Coalition (पाण्डवसैन्यसमागम-वर्णनम्)

के स्विदेनं वारयन्ति युद्धाच्छाम्येति वा पुन: । निकृत्या कोपितं मन्दैर्धर्मज्ञ धर्मचारिणम्‌,युधिष्ठिर धर्मके ज्ञाता हैं और धर्मके आचरणमें सदा तत्पर रहते हैं। मेरे मन्दबुद्धि पुत्रोंने अपने कपट॒पूर्ण बर्तावसे उन्हें कुपित कर दिया है। वहाँ कौन-कौन ऐसे हैं, जो उन्हें बारंबार शान्त रहनेकी सलाह देकर युद्धसे रोकते हैं?

dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca |

ke svid enaṁ vārayanti yuddhāc chāmyeti vā punaḥ |

nikṛtyā kopitaṁ mandair dharmajñaṁ dharmacāriṇam ||

دھرتراشٹر نے کہا— کون ہیں جو اسے جنگ سے روکتے ہیں اور بار بار ‘شانت رہو’ کہہ کر سمجھاتے ہیں؟ میرے کند ذہن بیٹوں نے اپنے فریب آمیز برتاؤ سے اس دھرم کے جاننے والے اور دھرم پر قائم یُدھشٹھِر کو غضبناک کر دیا ہے؛ پھر بھی وہاں کون کون اسے بار بار امن و سکون کی نصیحت کر کے میدانِ جنگ سے باز رکھنا چاہتا ہے؟
