Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
ehi gaccha mayā bhīṣma yuddhakāmuka durmada | gṛhāṇa sarva kauravya rathādi bharatarṣabha ||
The verse highlights the martial ethos of the Kshatriya world: readiness for conflict is framed as a matter of resolve and preparation, while also exposing the moral danger of durmada—pride that clouds judgment and inflames the desire for war.
Bhishma addresses a Kaurava prince (or a warrior being urged on) with sharp, commanding words: he calls him battle-eager and pride-maddened, tells him to come along, and orders him to take the chariot and all necessary equipment—signaling immediate mobilization toward war.
