Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
स गच्छ विनिवर्तस्व कुरुक्षेत्र रणप्रिय । तत्रैष्यामि महाबाहो युद्धाय त्वां तपोधन,'युद्धप्रिय महाबाहु तपोधन! अब आप लौटिये और कुरक्षेत्रमें ही चलिये। मैं युद्धके लिये वहीं आपके पास आऊँगा
sa gaccha vinivartasva kurukṣetra raṇapriya | tatraiṣyāmi mahābāho yuddhāya tvāṃ tapodhana ||
Rāma said: “Go now—return and proceed to Kurukṣetra, O lover of battle. There, O mighty-armed one, O treasure of austerity, I shall come to you for the fight.” The statement frames war as a chosen, rule-bound encounter at the proper field, emphasizing resolve and the ethics of meeting an opponent openly rather than through delay or evasion.
