Krishna’s Theophanic Display in the Kuru Assembly
eṣa duryodhano rājan yathecchati tathāstu tat
The verse highlights the ethical danger of yielding to an unrighteous will: when a powerful person’s desire is indulged without restraint or counsel, it can normalize adharma and accelerate collective harm.
Vaiśaṃpāyana addresses the king and points to Duryodhana, indicating that the situation is being allowed to proceed according to Duryodhana’s wish—an ominous narrative signal that his chosen course is being permitted to shape the unfolding crisis.
