Svargārohaṇa-parva Adhyāya 5 — Karmaphala-Nirdeśa and Phalāśruti (कर्मफलनिर्देशः फलश्रुतिश्च)
yathā samudro bhagavān yathā hi himavān giriḥ | khyātāv ubhau ratnanidhī tathā bhāratam ucyate ||
The Mahābhārata is presented as a vast repository of precious moral and spiritual instruction—its teachings are ‘jewels’ to be sought, valued, and applied in life.
In the closing context of the Svargārohaṇa Parva, Vaiśampāyana offers a laudatory reflection on the Mahābhārata itself, comparing it to the ocean and the Himalaya—both famed as sources of treasures—to emphasize the epic’s richness in counsel and dharma.
