नारायण: स विश्वात्मा तेनास्य शितिकण्ठता । यह देख रुद्र तपस्यामें लगे हुए उन ऋषियोंपर टूट पड़े। तब विश्वात्मा नारायणने अपने हाथसे उन आक्रमणकारी रुद्रदेवका गला पकड़ लिया। इसीसे उनका कण्ठ नीला हो जानेके कारण वे “नीलकण्ठ' के नामसे प्रसिद्ध हुए

جب رُدر تپسیا میں رَتھ رِشیوں پر حملہ آور ہونے کو لپکا، تو کائنات کی روح نارائن نے اپنے ہاتھ سے اس حملہ آور رُدر کا گلا پکڑ لیا۔ اس گرفت سے اس کا کنٹھ نیلا پڑ گیا؛ اسی لیے وہ ‘نیل کنٹھ’ کے لقب سے مشہور ہوا۔
