स्नेहजानिह ते पाशान्‌ वक्ष्यामि शृणु तान्‌ मम । सकर्णकेन शिरसा शक्या: श्रोतुं विजानता,'मैं तुम्हें स्नेहजनित बन्धनोंका परिचय देता हूँ, उन्हें तुम मुझसे सुनो। श्रवणेन्द्रियसम्पन्न समझदार मनुष्य ही ऐसी बातोंको बुद्धिपूर्वक सुन सकता है”

snehajān iha te pāśān vakṣyāmi śṛṇu tān mama | sa-karṇakena śirasā śakyāḥ śrotuṁ vijānatā ||

بھیشم نے کہا—میں تمہیں سنےہ سے پیدا ہونے والے بندھنوں کا بیان کرتا ہوں؛ انہیں مجھ سے سنو۔ ایسا مشورہ وہی شخص ٹھیک طرح سن اور سمجھ سکتا ہے جو صاحبِ فہم ہو، جس کا ذہن متوجہ اور کان بیدار ہوں۔
