Adhyāya 199: Karma–Jñāna Causality and the Nirguṇa Brahman

Manu’s Instruction

सत्य॑ वेदेषु जागार्ति फलं सत्ये परं स्मृतम्‌ । सत्याद्‌ धर्मो दमश्चैव सर्व सत्ये प्रतेष्ठितम्‌,वेदोंमें सत्य ही जागता है--उसीकी महिमा बतायी गयी है। सत्यका ही सबसे श्रेष्ठ फल माना गया है। धर्म और इन्द्रिय-संयमकी सिद्धि भी सत्यसे ही होती है। सत्यके ही आधारपर सब कुछ टिका हुआ है

satyaṁ vedeṣu jāgarti phalaṁ satye paraṁ smṛtam | satyād dharmo damaś caiva sarvaṁ satye pratiṣṭhitam ||

ویدوں میں سچ ہی بیدار رہتا ہے—وہیں اس کی عظمت بیان کی گئی ہے۔ سب سے اعلیٰ پھل سچ ہی کا مانا گیا ہے۔ سچ ہی سے دھرم اور دَم (حواس کا ضبط) کی تکمیل ہوتی ہے؛ اور ہر شے سچ ہی پر قائم ہے۔
