न केनचित्‌ प्रवादेन सत्येनैवापहारिणा । धर्मायोत्तिष्ठ विप्रर्षे नात्मानं त्यक्तुमहसि

Transliteration

na kenacit pravādena satyenaivāpahāriṇā | dharmāyottiṣṭha viprarṣe nātmānaṃ tyaktum arhasi ||

Translation

بھیشم نے کہا—کسی بھی الزام کے سبب—خواہ وہ سچا ہی کیوں نہ ہو اور عزّت و آبرو چھین لینے والا ہو—تمہیں اپنی جان دینے کا خیال نہیں کرنا چاہیے۔ اے برہمرشی، دھرم کے لیے اٹھ کھڑے ہو؛ اپنے آپ کو ترک کرنا تمہارے شایانِ شان نہیں۔
