मृत्यु-काल-प्रबोधनम् (Instruction on Mortality, Time, and Truth) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 169
दुःशीलो5थाकृतात्मा च नृशंस: कितवस्तथा । मित्रैरपकृतिर्नित्यमिच्छते<र्थ परस्य य:
duḥśīlo ’thākṛtātmā ca nṛśaṁsaḥ kitavas tathā | mitrair apakṛtir nityam icchate ’rthaṁ parasya yaḥ ||
بھیشم نے کہا—جو بدخو اور بےضبط ہو، نہایت سنگدل اور مکار ہو، جواری ہو؛ جو ہمیشہ دوستوں کو نقصان پہنچائے اور دوسروں کے مال پر ہاتھ ڈالنے کا حریص ہو—اس کے ساتھ کبھی معاہدہ نہیں کرنا چاہیے۔ اور جو عادتاً دوسروں کے عیب ڈھونڈتا رہے، وہ بھی معاہدے کے لائق نہیں۔ اب میں اُن لوگوں کا بیان کرتا ہوں جو اتحاد کے قابل ہیں—سنو۔
