वश्षित् क्षुद्रसमाचार: पृथिव्यां कालसम्मित: । विचचार महारण्ये घोर: शकुनिलुब्धक:,एक समयकी बात है किसी महान् वनमें कोई भयंकर बहेलिया चारों ओर विचर रहा था। वह बड़े खोटे आचार-विचारका था। पृथ्वीपर वह कालके समान जान पड़ता था
vaśṣit kṣudra-samācāraḥ pṛthivyāṃ kāla-sammitaḥ | vicacāra mahāraṇye ghoraḥ śakuni-lubdhakaḥ ||
بھیشم نے کہا—ایک زمانے میں ایک گھنے جنگل میں ایک ہولناک پرندہ شکار کرنے والا گھومتا پھرتا تھا۔ اس کا چال چلن نہایت پست تھا؛ زمین پر وہ گویا کال (موت) کی مانند دکھائی دیتا تھا۔
