वीर्यवांश्व महातेजा महात्मा च विशेषत: । कृती च चित्रयोधी च संयुक्तो लाघवेन च

vīryavāṃś ca mahātejā mahātmā ca viśeṣataḥ |
kṛtī ca citrayodhī ca saṃyukto lāghavena ca |
iti satyaṃ bravīmy eṣa duryodhana na saṃśayaḥ |
سنجے نے کہا—وہ نہایت دلیر، عظیم جلال والا، اور بالخصوص بلند روح ہے۔ وہ ماہر ہے، نرالی و گوناگوں جنگی تدبیروں کا یودھا ہے، اور عمل میں بے مثال پھرتی رکھتا ہے۔ اے دریو دھن! میں یہ بات سچ کہتا ہوں—اس میں کوئی شک نہیں۔
संजय उवाच
The verse foregrounds truthful testimony about a warrior’s qualities—valor, brilliance, nobility, skill, and speed—showing how leadership in war is assessed not only by power but also by character (mahātmā) and competence (kṛtī), and how speech is anchored in satya (truth).
Sañjaya reports to Duryodhana, affirming—without doubt—the exceptional martial qualities of a particular warrior (referred to as “eṣaḥ,” ‘this man’), emphasizing his valor, splendor, noble disposition, versatility in combat, and agility.
