Kṛpa’s Counsel and Drauṇi’s Sleepless Resolve
yakṣāyaṁ mitrapakṣo me mayi jīvati nirjitaḥ
Even in war, loyalty and responsibility toward one’s allies matter; Kṛpa’s words highlight the ethical sting of seeing a formidable supporter subdued while he himself still lives—an implicit call to uphold honor and protect one’s own.
In the Sauptika Parva’s tense aftermath, Kṛpa speaks about a powerful ally—likened to a yakṣa—who has been defeated, expressing shock or reproach that such a supporter could be overcome while Kṛpa remains alive.
