Arjuna’s evacuation of Dvārakā, Vasudeva’s rites, and the caravan’s crisis

मोक्षयित्वा तनु प्राप्त: कृष्ण: स्वस्थानमुत्तमम्‌ । वे विशाल नेत्रोंवाले श्रीकृष्ण इस पृथ्वीका भार उतारकर शरीर त्याग अपने उत्तम परम धामको जा पहुँचे हैं

mokṣayitvā tanūṁ prāptaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ svasthānam uttamam |

ویاس نے کہا—وسیع چشم شری کرشن نے زمین کا بوجھ اتار کر اپنا کام پورا کیا، پھر جسم کو ترک کر کے اپنے اعلیٰ ترین پرم دھام کو پہنچ گئے۔

Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes purposeful action and timely renunciation: once a righteous mission is completed, clinging to embodiment and worldly roles is unnecessary. Kṛṣṇa’s departure is portrayed as sovereign and dharmic—affirming impermanence of the body and the primacy of the highest abode (ultimate reality) over transient worldly presence.

In the Mausala Parva’s closing movement, after the Yādava line collapses and the era turns, Vyāsa narrates that Kṛṣṇa, having accomplished the task of relieving the earth’s burden, relinquishes his body and returns to his supreme, own abode—marking the end of his visible presence in the world.
