Karṇa’s Breach of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Battle-Line
yāhi deva yato daityāḥ śodayāśvān atandritaḥ | paśya bāhor balaṁ medady nidhnataḥ śātravān raṇe ||
The verse highlights the warrior ethic of vigilance and resolute action: a leader must direct allies clearly, remain alert, and accept responsibility for confronting hostile forces with disciplined courage.
Bhīṣma addresses his charioteer/companion, ordering him to steer toward the enemy (called Daityas here), to drive the horses attentively, and to witness Bhīṣma’s arm-strength as he prepares to cut down the opposing troops in battle.
